In her amateur debut, Kylie “Killa KyBird” Davis showed she definitely has what it takes to be an MMA fighter. The week of the fight, Davis learned that her scheduled opponent had backed out. The replacement, Dakota Zimmerman, was already scheduled to fight the following weekend, so Davis was not going to have the luxury of an unprepared opponent.
But Davis has been preparing and working hard, so she was ready to face whoever showed up in the cage. She made weight with no problem, and arrived at Ameristar Casino Saturday night ready for battle.
And what a battle it was. Davis and Zimmerman went hard for three rounds, trading kicks, punches, spinning back fists, knees and even a couple takedowns. In the end, all three judges scored the contest 29-28 in favor of Davis, who took round one and nabbed round two before taking a pretty good beating in the third. Davis was a true fighter, and she rightfully won this war of attrition.
Congrats to Killa KyBird on her successful debut!
