Andrew Tyson was born in Toronto, Canada, but grew up and went to high school in Overland Park, Kansas. He first started wrestling his sophomore year of high school, and after only three years in the sport placed third in Kansas 6A state his senior year. Tyson then went on to Rockhurst University where he acquired a bachelor’s degree in 2007 and later a Masters in Business Administration in 2011.
During his pursuit of his graduate degree, Tyson began his amateur career in mixed martial arts, where he went 11-0, acquiring 6 championship belts fighting as a welterweight, lightweight and featherweight.
Following a 3-year layoff due to injuries, Tyson returned to MMA competition as a pro. He defeated Cory Hunter via decision at Blackout Fighting Championships in March 2014 and then Dustin Blake via TKO at Phoenix FC 1 in November. His next fight will be on Phenix FC’s March 2015 card.
Tyson has been a trainer in boxing and kickboxing for four years years in Kansas City, and is also a personal trainer with proven success in helping people meet their fitness and weight-loss goals.
